Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGREGORY STAFFORD SIMPSON It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gregory Simpson, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, November 6th, 2008 at 1:30 a.m. with his loving wife, Janet, by his side. Greg, beloved husband, father and grandfather, will be deeply missed by his wife Janet of 38 years, his daughter Joanne (Dale) and son Brad (Nicole), his three grandsons Kyle, Cole and Max, his twin sister, Gayle (Arthur), nephew Shane (Nicole), niece Andrea (Al) and numerous other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Gordon and his mother Theresa. Greg was born in Winnipeg on March 5th, 1946 and was raised in the Montreal area. It was there that he began his career of 35 years with Air Canada as an aircraft mechanic and also met Janet, the love of his life. They married on June 6th, 1970 and eventually settled in Winnipeg, where they raised their two children, Joanne and Brad, and with the help of family and friends, built their dream home. Greg loved to travel but to the amusement of others, it was usually in a car instead of a plane. He was in his glory starting out in the early hours of the morning heading east or west down the Trans-Canada. But after he discovered Hawaii, he never looked back because that to him was paradise. Special thanks to the fifth floor staff of Grace Hospital, the Cancer Care Unit and to Dr. Harris for her kindness and compassion. A service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, on Monday, November 10 at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cancer Care Unit at Grace Hospital or to the Canadian Diabetes Association. I was saddened to hear of Greg's passing. It has been some time since I have seen him. In our younger days, both he and Gayle used to come home to Newfoundland with Aunt TC and Uncle Gordon for vacations and we would spend wonderful times together. To Janet and family; and to Gayle and her family, our deepest sympathy and know that he is in a better place, free from suffering. I can really empathize with Gayle as we have just lost our brother, Pat, in September. May God bless you all. Love, Judy and Harold Murphy - Posted by: Judy Murphy (Family) on: Nov 11, 2008
